Overview:
In today's highly volatile threat climate, Federal government organizations such as military services or civilian agencies face many daunting tasks of securing the messaging infrastructure while doing so under ever decreasing budgets. The threats in messaging include email, instant messaging, web mail, and voice over IP (VOIP), and encompass the typical inbound threats of spam, virus, and malicious attacks as well as the outbound threats of non-compliance and information leakage. Government agencies need the ability to effectively control both inbound and outbound messaging, encryption techniques, bandwidth utilization, recipients and other parameter combinations. Additionally, detailed reporting of e-mail flow, attacks and other pertinent information are crucial in helping agencies comply with FISMA and other regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), and GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act). By deploying award winning CipherTrust technology, some of the world's largest government organizations are securing their messaging infrastructure while reducing administration and total cost of ownership.
Security at the forefront - Common Criteria Certification
Understanding that security is a the forefront of protecting messaging security infrastructures, CipherTrust has completed the Common Criteria certification process for our flagship messaging security product, CipherTrust IronMail Secure Email Gateway.
In May 2006, CipherTrust was awarded the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) certification from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) program. Common Criteria certification is an important, and often mandatory, requirement for conducting business with international government agencies, and gives our customers and prospects assurance that CipherTrust meets strict security requirements and certification standards.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA) established the NIAP to evaluate IT product conformance to international standards. The program, officially known as the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme for IT Security (CCEVS) is a partnership between the public and private sectors. Designed to help organizations select commercial off-the-shelf information technology (IT) products that meet their security requirements, and to help manufacturers of those products gain acceptance in the global marketplace, the Common Criteria is recognized around the world as the official third-party evaluation criteria for IT security procedures.
